| The Lake Braddock Slam is the only Slam in the
Fairfax Amateur Lawn & Tennis Series. It is
the longest of the five series events and each match
is the best of five sets, thus constituting a Slam
event.
The venue for the Lake Braddock Slam is the newly
refurbished courts next to Lake Braddock in Burke,
Virginia. There are only 5 courts at Lake Braddock
so it is one of the noisiest and most grueling
venues to play at.
The history of Lake Braddock goes way back to
some great athletes who used to play there. Allen
Johnson, now an Olympic champion hurdler, won
the first ever Lake Braddock Slam 10 years ago.
Mia Hamm, who is considered the best soccer player
in the world by many, was the first and only female
to win the Slam 7 years ago. The Lake Braddock
Slam has always produced top champions due to
its grueling schedule and harsh weather conditions.
